CLINICAL CANINE MASSAGE THERAPY:
Canine massage aims to support dogs with the five principles of pain. These principles include gait; the way that the dog moves and posture; the way the dog stands, sits or gets up from lying down. Massage can also help with activities of daily living; things that a dog does every day such as going up and down stairs, chasing a ball, or getting out of the car. The fourth principle of pain is behaviour. Canine massage can help with behavioural issues such as a dog who doesn't want to be groomed or examined. The fifth principle of pain that massage can help with is performance. So, whether you have a working dog or participate in agility, obedience or any other type of sports, canine massage can help with their performance. In the pet dog, it may be a dog who is slowing down or reluctant to go on the walk. I provide home visits during which I perform postural and gait analysis, full muscular health check and develop a treatment plan to address any issues identified. I aim to see results in 1-3 sessions.
CANINE CONDITIONING:
As a licenced conditioning coach with the Canine Conditioning Academy I provide science based programmes to improve core strength and performance in dogs. The focus is on correct form which promotes correct function.
Re-educateing neuromuscular function to re-balance the canine body and correct patterns of movement will improve performance and reduce the risk of injury.
Furs Choice provide high quality grooming services in a hygienic, safe, modern, mobile salon. I offer bespoke conditioning packages and training material provided in person or online and targeted clinical canine massage therapies in the comfort of your own home.

“Just had our little cavapoochon puppy Basil groomed and I cannot recommend Furs Choice enough!
He has come back looking even more adorable than before and had some really great at-home grooming advice too. Couldn’t recommend enough and so happy we have found our baby the perfect groomer”
Melissa, Lutterworth

Lisa, Swadlincote
“Highly recommend furs choice - Nicola goes above and beyond a normal bath and groom - my dogs always look and smell amazing - kindness to my dogs is important and they both love her"
Lindsey, Shawell
"Jerry responded very well to the massages – it really does seem to have taken years off of him, from being stiff and laboured struggling to climb onto the bed and needing help, to jumping up with relative ease. Jerry was having slow short walks but since the massages he has wanted to run and is moves much smoother. Although I was initially sceptical I would very much recommend this to others"

In 2017 I began volunteering with the Cinnamon Trust which is a charity set up to preserve the treasured relationship between owners and their pets. I started walking George, an overweight, scruffy, Golden Retriever with a lust for life and mud! It became my mission to help him achieve his full potential and in so doing I unexpectedly entered into the world of dog grooming. I found a passion for dog welfare that only continues to grow.
After training with Leicester Dog Grooming and later, at Brooksby Melton College, I started my own business in 2019 offering an at home mobile grooming service.
I have since trained for two years with the Canine Massage Therapy Centre, and I now specialise in four disciplines of massage: Swedish, Sports, Deep Tissue, and Myofascial Release both the direct and the indirect approach. Most importantly I utilise the unique Lenton method© This method has recently been clinically trailed with Winchester University, in a study of 527 dogs. The massage therapy was shown to have a positive response with over 95% of the dogs who participated in the clinical trial.
I have trained further with the Canine Conditioning Academy Coach in all aspects of conditioning and fitness for dogs and am a licenced canine conditioning coach
I am fully insured and have a canine first aid qualification.
I am a member of the Canine Massage Guild and a licenced conditioning coach with the Canine Conditioning Academy.
